Market Value Sample Budget These examples do not account for granite or solid surface countertops, expect to add an additional amount (close to the cost of your cabinets) to your budget if you want this type of countertop. Appliances can range from $300 to $9,000 each, so it is easy to blow the budget here. Flooring can vary greatly also, inexpensive vinyl to high-end tile and exotic woods. Finish plumbing, a faucet can cost from $100 to $1,000 and knobs or pulls from $3 to $100 each.
The unexpected costs will include updating electrical and plumbing to code. Do not skimp here. Ground fault protection can be expensive if it is not currently installed in your kitchen and/or bathroom, and this is something you do not want to cut corners on. Running a new electrical line from a panel and putting in new outlets, lights, switches, etc. is usually charged per item and adds up fast. A new panel installed can run upwards of $2,000 alone. Plumbing is the same situation, codes must be met to insure the safety of the homeowner. Most inspections will go right to the source, so if the panel (electrical) and drains and supply (plumbing) codes have changed since your last inspection (possibly when the house was built), you may be forced to bring it up to code. You may have additional costs if you have structural issues or are putting on an addition or building a home. $100,000 Kitchen estimate based on market value: $250,000

| This would include a stock type (low cost) cabinet and inexpensive laminate (post-formed) countertops.
Appliances, flooring and other goods would need to be very basic and of the lowest cost.
This would be a small kitchen. So the design, labor and permits would be directly related to that size.
| This would include a semi-custom type (mid cost) cabinet and laminate countertops. Appliances, flooring and other goods would need to be basic and of reasonable cost.
This would be a small to medium sized kitchen. So the design, labor and permits would be directly related to that size.
